Calgary-based country artist ANNIKA released her captivating new single, “It Kills Me,” on June 2nd, 2023.

The mesmerizing and seductive track, produced by ANNIKA’s husband, JUNO award-winning Spencer Cheyne, promises to captivate listeners with its sultry sound.

From its subtle and subdued arrangement to its grand and sweeping finale, the song takes the audience on an emotional rollercoaster.

In discussing the inspiration behind “It Kills Me,” ANNIKA reveals that it marks a departure from her previous releases.

The song tells the story of a scorned woman who, despite being mistreated by the love of her life, keeps coming back for more.

ANNIKA admits that while the story doesn’t reflect her current life, she imagined the thoughts of a woman who has been deeply hurt.

In addition to the single release, ANNIKA is thrilled to be performing an acoustic showcase during Canadian Music Week (CMW) on June 6th at Bar Cathedral in Toronto, ON.

She first gained recognition as the lead singer of the CCMA-nominated country-pop duo Leaving Thomas since 2014.

With a background as a classically trained pianist and vocalist, ANNIKA has showcased her talents across various platforms.

From bustling cruise ship piano bars to national television appearances as a Top 11 Canadian Idol finalist, she has proven her versatility.

Additionally, ANNIKA had the honor of hosting the Calgary Stampede Grandstand show, entertaining a combined audience of over 200,000 people.

ANNIKA’s debut solo single, “I Really Don’t Want To,” achieved significant milestones, reaching No. 33 on the CBC Country Top 40 chart and staying in the Top 40 at Mediabase for five consecutive weeks.

The track also made its mark on the Billboard Country Chart, staying in the Top 50 for four weeks.

ANNIKA followed up this success with her duet with Brett Kissel, “Encore,” which garnered three nominations at the YYC Music Awards.
