Canadian rockers Headstones packed a punch on the main stage at Crewfest 2023 at Lions Park in Brantford, Ontario on Saturday, July 29, 2023.
“You made our year… you made our decade,” front man Hugh Dillon told the Brantford crowd.
The veteran rockers roared through their hits, which spans three decades, mixing in some tags of fellow Kingston band The Tragically Hip and a full rock cover of Gordon Lightfoot’s iconic 1976 folk tune ‘The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald’.
Dillon, who is also a producer and actor and recently co-created Paramount+ original series Mayor Of Kingstown with Taylor Sheridan, made mention of the series during their Saturday performance.
“We shot Mayor Of Kingstown in Brantford,” Dillon said, before starting a chant for the series star Jeremy Renner, who is recovering after being struck by a snow plough on New Year’s Day.
Dillon and Sheridan previously worked together on the critically acclaimed drama Yellowstone.
Formed in 1987, Headstones debut release Picture Of Health (1993) met with not just critical acclaim but was certified Platinum, selling in excess of 100,000 copies and spawning the singles “When Something Stands For Nothing”, “Cemetery,” “Tweeter and the Monkey Man” and “Three Angels.”
The band has since gone on to release seven studio albums and countless chart topping singles.
Known for their intense and authentic performance style, Headstones remain true to their DIY aesthetic.

The Headstones released their latest full-length album Flight Risk, on October 14, 2022 via Known Accomplice.
Flight Risk is pre-apocalyptic rock and roll at its finest, following up their 2019 release PeopleSkills, which garnered two Top 10 radio hits with “Leave It All Behind” and “Horses”.
This is one of the most subversive Headstones rock and roll records to date.
Flight Risk is the result of years of relentless work ethic and dedication, a testament to the long-standing relationships within the band and their team.
The album features a surprise co-write on the track Ashes, between Dillon and long-time friend and collaborator Taylor Sheridan; one of the most prolific, premier storytellers of his time, and architect of hit series’ Yellowstone and 1883.
