Cory Marks discusses his forthcoming sophomore album & the current ‘Liquored Up Tour’

Platinum-certified, dual-genre artist Cory Marks, just released his upbeat new single “A Different Kind Of Year” on January 19, via Better Noise Music and all streaming platforms.

SWOMP’s Dana Haggith caught up with Marks for an interview to discuss the song, the current tour and his forthcoming album.. Listen, below:

Produced by longtime collaborator Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch, Shania Twain), the rousing new single serves as a post-pandemic, feel-good anthem.

“A Different Kind Of Year” will be included on Marks’ forthcoming sophomore album due later this year.

“This new song is all about good times, reconnecting with family and friends. Committing to yourself to make things better in the year ahead and not taking those special things for granted,” Marks said.

“It’s a country song for country people, so cheers. Here’s to you, here’s to me and a different kind of year!”

In addition to the new single, Cory is excited have joined Aaron Pritchett on his 2024 cross-Canada Liquored Up Tour alongside Matt Lang.

The 32-date tour kicked off in Calgary, AB on January 27th and will conclude on March 7th in Moncton, NB.

The three artists also recently came together for the release of Aaron’s rowdy new single “Liquored Up,” which is out now.

North Bay, ON native Cory Marks is a former hockey player and lifelong fan, who once dreamed of sitting behind a drum kit like his idol Neil Peart of Rush.

Today, he seamlessly navigates between arena-rock and roots country, pleasing diverse metal and Americana audiences on tour Gilbert, while joining Nickelback on the main stage at the annual Boots and Hearts festival outside Toronto last summer.

Marks’ 2020 groundbreaking debut album, Who I Am, landed at #1 on several Canadian charts including iTunes’ “Country Songs” and the Canadian Nielsen “Digital Sales Rock Genre” charts.

The album featured the hit rock single “Outlaws & Outsiders,” which charted at #1 in the U.S. on Billboard’s “Rock Digital Song Sales” chart and #5 on iTunes “Country Songs”.

“Outlaws & Outsiders” made history in the U.S. by being the first-ever Top 10 rock radio charting single from a Canadian country act.

The single has received over 144-million streams to date while achieving Platinum certification in Canada and Gold certification in the U.S. Marks has since released three additional EPs and most recently collaborated with labelmates Eva Under Fire on the Top 20 U.S. radio-charting single, “Unstoppable” (2023).

To date, Marks has performed at more than 25 major music festivals in Canada and the U.S. for a diverse range of audiences alongside acts such as Halestorm, Five Finger Death Punch, ZZ Top, Brantley Gilbert, Travis Tritt, and Toby Keith.
