Pearl Jam officially releases 12th studio album, Dark Matter

Pearl Jam officially released its 12th studio album, Dark Matter, on Friday, April 19, 2024.

“It’s surreal to even type out that sentence,” Ten Club officials said in an email to fan club members.

“We’ve had the pleasure of sharing Dark Matter with you in some way this week, whether you were able to attend an early listening party or screening. Thank you all who made it out! Now, we’re excited for you to listen to the record in the comfort of your own space. And when you do, listen to it LOUD.”

The track list, includes:

1. Scared of Fear

2. React, Respond

3. Wreckage

4. Dark Matter

5. Won’t Tell

6. Upper Hand

7. Waiting for Stevie

8. Running

9. Something Special

10. Got to Give

11. Setting Sun

“I think the main request we have of you – not that we’re in that position, but if we were, to ask anything – I would recommend you play it loud, like, really loud,” Eddie Vedder, told Alt 98.7.

“We’re proud of our twelfth baby after 33 years. So, sit back, close your eyes for the first listen, soak up the sounds and the words, and interpret them individually,” Jeff Ament, stated.

“This one, we’re all in the room at the same time, with Andrew, and we’re all looking at each other, playing off of each other,” Mike McCready told Goldmine.

“It’s still making art with your friends,” Stone Gossard told the Seattle Times.

“That always excites me. In that collaboration and the mix of being part of something that you’re not really in control of but you know that you’re playing a role in it, that’s a fun place to play. And it’s still fun to play, like a kid.”

“I’m really glad that was the idea behind it,” Matt Cameron told New & Approved.

“You know, just picking the best stuff and making sure the performances were great.”

SWOMP had the opportunity to listen to the album in its entirety earlier this week, during a special screening at SilverCity London Cinemas.
