‘I Love the ’90s Tour’, featuring Vanilla Ice, Color Me Badd, Young MC & C&C Music Factory, kicks off Bluewater Borderfest 2024 in Sarnia

The eighth annual ‘I Love the ‘90s Tour’ kicked off on Thursday evening, June 20, 2024, in Sarnia, Ontario to open up the annual Bluewater Borderfest.

The show featured headliner Vanilla Ice, along with opening acts Color Me Badd, Young MC and C&C Music Factory, along with Sarnia cover band, Rumblefish.

Vanilla Ice

Robert Van Winkle, aka Vanilla Ice, exploded on the rap/pop music scene in 1990, selling 10-million albums in four months, and hitting #1 on the Billboard charts with the #1 single, ‘Ice Ice Baby’.

His worldwide album sales are over 25-million and individual songs total over 160-million.

He has been awarded two MTV Awards, a People’s Choice Award, and was nominated for a Grammy award.

Vanilla Ice has starred in or appeared in the movies Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, Cool As Ice, The Helix Loaded, The New Guy, The Bros, Big Money Hustlas, That’s My Boy, The Ridiculous Six and Sandy Wexler with Adam Sandler.

Color Me Badd

Color Me Badd has sold 12-million records in the United States, and their debut album, C.M.B, sold over 6-million copies worldwide, becoming certified Triple platinum in the United States.

They have three #1 singles and 17 top 20 singles, including five hit singles from C.M.B.: “I Wanna Sex You Up” (U.S. #2), “I Adore Mi Amor” (U.S. #1), “All 4 Love” (U.S. #1), “Thinkin’ Back” (U.S. #16) and “Slow Motion” (U.S. #18).

They were awarded the Favorite Single R&B/Soul trophy at the 19th annual American Music Awards and won the Best R&B/Soul Single and Song of the Year categories at the 6th annual Soul Train Music Awards.

Young MC

Rapper Marvin Young made his debut as Young MC on the single, “I Let ‘Em Know.”

In 1989, Young collaborated with Tone-Loc on “Wild Thing,” the first Top 10 pop hit for a black rapper, and the follow-up smash hit “Funky Cold Medina.”

Young stepped out on his own later in the year with the Top 10 smash “Bust a Move,” a good-natured examination of romantic successes and failures spiced by his sense of humor and quick-tongued rapping.

The song won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance, and its strong pop appeal helped the attendant album, Stone Cold Rhymin’, go Platinum.

C&C Music Factory

Rumblefish

Organized by Universal Attractions Agency, the ‘I Love the ‘90s Tour’ includes a revolving line-up of ’90s hitmakers, taking audiences back to the trend-setting decade with some of the most iconic, indelible names in rap, hip hop and R&B.

The 22-city U.S. and Canadian tour kicked off on at Centennial Park in Sarnia and goes through November 8 at Spotlight 29 in Coachella, California.
