Wolfgang Van Halen & his solo band Mammoth WVH set the tone at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit

Wolfgang Van Halen brought his God-given, familial chops to Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

Opening for Creed, Wolfgang’s solo project, Mammoth WVH, set the tone for the evening as the opening act.

“What’s up, Detroit? Very happy to be here,” the son of Eddie Van Halen told the audience.

“How are you guys feeling? Are you having a good time so far, Detroit? What I want to know is, are y’all fuckin’ ready to get higher with Creed? Are you ready?”

After playing alongside his father as the bassist for Van Halen from 2007 to 2020, Wolfgang worked tirelessly on material that would become his debut album and solo band, Mammoth WVH.

“The name Mammoth is really special to me,” Wolfgang said in a statement on his website.

“Not only was it the name of Van Halen before it became Van Halen, but my father was also the lead singer. Ever since my dad told me this, I always thought that when I grew up, I’d call my own band Mammoth because I loved the name so much. I’m so thankful that my father was able to listen to and enjoy the music I made. Nothing made me happier than seeing how proud he was that I was continuing the family legacy.”

He was nominated for a Grammy Award for the single “Distance” from his debut album.

Wolfgang released his second album, Mammoth II, in August of last year.

Mammoth WVH will be playing a number of shows, opening for Creed, to close out 2024.
