Fall Out Boy create Opening Day ‘Mmrs’ at Innings Festival 2025

Illinois pop-punk rockers Fall Out Boy put a pause on working on their new album to headline the first day of the Innings Festival in Tempe, Arizona on Friday, February 21, 2025.

“What the fuck is going on Arizona? We are Fall Out Boy,” bassist Pete Wentz told the jam-packed audience.

“I feel like it couldn’t be more perfect to be hanging out in the desert. The temperature is pretty perfect right fuckin’ now. I couldn’t think of anywhere else to be right at this moment. Thank-you guys for hanging out with us.”

Wentz said the band didn’t plan on playing any shows this year.

“How many of you have seen us before in concert?” Wentz asked.

“For those of you that didn’t have your hands up, welcome, we’re sorry.”

Wentz added: “So, we started this process of this new record about two years ago. We really didn’t plan on playing any shows this year, then we were offered a chance to play a festival like this.”

To prepare, Wentz said the band hired a production designer.

“We were like we want this fuckin’ flying sheep and it’s got all this other fuckin’ shit,” he said, as the massive winged-prop hung above the band.

“They were like, uh, that’s probably going to be pretty hard to do at festivals, it’s basically made out of paper mache. We were like, we have to fuckin’ do this, it’s the only way we’ll do it.”

Wentz added: “So we put it together, but bear with us, there is a lot of things going on. Please make some noise for everybody that puts this fuckin’ show together.”

The band powered through a marathon 27-song set, covering hits from across their entire discography.
