Added late to the ALTer EGO lineup, L.A.-based indie rockers Mt. Joy made the most of their slot, opening their set with Lucy, a soulful, anthemic track that immediately pulled the room in.
“We want to give a big shout out to Lisa and iHeart for playing that song. It means the world to us,” he said. “It means a lot to a lot of people that are going through a lot right now. We’ve gotten a really beautiful chance to see that.”
Quinn’s vocals were locked in, riding over a foot-stomping bassline and kick drum that could be felt pulsing through the floor of the Forum.
The band delivered the night’s first guest appearance by inviting Gigi Perez, who would later perform her own set, to join them on In The Middle, blending voices for a standout moment of collaboration.
“We’re going to play a goofy song about all the dreamers in Los Angeles,” Quinn told the crowd before rolling into Astrovan.
As the song unfolded, the screens shifted into a colourful, psychedelic montage of UFOs, camper vans and drifting imagery, perfectly matching the song’s playful, road-trip spirit. Though based in L.A., Mt. Joy briefly transported the audience far beyond city limits, out onto long stretches of highway where things slow down, the air feels lighter, and the horizon stretches wide.
