Local H frontman Scott Lucas talks with SWOMP at Louder Than Life 2024

After the remnants of Hurricane Helene forced the cancellation of the second day of the Louder Than Life Music Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, the day prior, Illinois rockers Local H were the first to hit the Main Stage on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

“Are you with us?” frontman Scott Lucas asked the eager crowd during their early afternoon show.

The 90’s rockers tore through a quick set, which included their hits ‘Buffalo Trace’, ‘Bound for the Floor’, ‘Fritz’s Corner’ and ‘High-Fiving MF’.

Their set also included a tag of The Beatles classic, ‘Helter Skelter’.

Following their performance, Lucas met up with SWOMP in the media tent for an interview. Listen, below:

“When life gives you lemons — you book a 20th Anniversary WHATEVER HAPPENED TO P.J. SOLES tour!” the band stated in a recent media release.

“Thanks to our awesome team (and all of our awesome friends at our favorite clubs) the show WILL go on! Sadly, we won’t be out with our pals in Helmet — BUT we’ve enlisted our buddies in Radkey to come along for this wild ride. And on top of that — ALL DATES (except for the festival gigs) will NOW feature a performance of WHATEVER HAPPENED TO P.J. SOLES? in its entirety. So if you were one of the ones complaining about no 20th anniversary “P.J.” show in your town — now’s the time to show up or shut up. And if you’ve already purchased tickets for the Metro “P.J.” performance in Chicago — hold on to them shits. THAT performance is STILL going to be special. Trust us. PLUS!!! All you eagle eyed cherries may have noticed that a very special event just reared its ugly head at the Music Box on October 15. Jesus Christ! What a time to be ALIVE!!! Let’s GO!”

Brutal Panda is proud to release the Deluxe 20th Anniversary Reissue of LOCAL H’s cult rock n’ roll classic Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles?, remastered from the original recordings and finally available on vinyl for the first time ever.

Physical pre-orders are available now on Deluxe 2xLP/2xLP/CD-Blu Ray Combo/CS/Digital via Brutal Panda Records & G&P Records HERE. The reissue will see an official release date on September 13th.

Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles?, LOCAL H’s fifth studio album, was originally released in 2004.

The album saw Chicago’s finest rock duo move further away from the mainstream and into cult status (like the album title’s namesake) with the release of their first truly independent full-length. The album contains some of the band’s finest songwriting and spans across various genres, incorporating elements of hard rock, electric blues, acoustic ballads, heavy metal, and high-energy punk. A watershed high-point in a career that is about to enter its 35th year.

LOCAL H frontman Scott Lucas commented on the anniversary + reissue: “I think it’s the best record we ever made. And I’m psyched that it’s finally on vinyl. Hopefully, Riff approves.”

Unlike so many of their peers from the 90s, LOCAL H have refused to slow down.

Since the band’s formation in 1990, they have released 8 studio albums, countless EPs and live records, a well-received series of “Mix Tapes” featuring a surprising mix of cover songs, and a steady stream of memorable singles that include “Eddie Vedder,” “Hands On The Bible,” “California Songs,” and the rock radio staple “Bound For The Floor.” In addition to all of that, guitarist/vocalist Scott Lucas and drummer Ryan Harding have maintained a near constant international touring schedule — forging a blistering live show that has amassed a loyal and enthusiastic fan base.
