GROUPLOVE opened their 2026 with a burst of energy at the Innings Festival, walking onstage to Come Together and its iconic “come together, right now…” refrain under a bright Arizona afternoon sun.
Singer Hannah Hooper flashed heart hands to the crowd, her wide, unmistakable smile setting the tone early.
“What’s up, Innings?” she shouted. “Having a good time?”
From the start, both Hooper and her husband and fellow singer Christian Zucconi were in constant motion — bouncing, bobbing, blurring across the stage whenever they weren’t at the mic. The energy was relentless. Lead guitarist Andrew Wessen wore a grin that never seemed to leave his face.
Sonically, the band felt like a collision — echoing the scrappy alt-rock punch of Cage the Elephant with the high-energy bounce of The Interrupters.
Hooper swung her hair from one side of the stage to the other — part lead singer, part go-go dancer, part master hype woman. When she and Zucconi sang together, their voices locked in tightly, blending so seamlessly it almost felt like one voice shaded with different cadences.
“It’s nice to be back up here on stage, it’s been a minute,” Zucconi told the crowd.
Hooper echoed the sentiment, saying she was glad to see such a strong turnout “considering we haven’t played in a while.” At one point she paused, overcome: “Music is healing, my God.”
She spoke about the recent passing of Tim Very, drummer for Manchester Orchestra, calling him a good friend. The band seemed to use the moment — and the show itself — as a form of therapy, channeling grief into movement and positivity.
“How many people here make art?” Hooper asked, encouraging creativity and speaking passionately about its importance.
Wessen shared a personal note, calling the moment surreal – his parents’ house had been destroyed in the Los Angeles fires, and the people who took his family in were in the audience.
Hooper then urged everyone to keep creating before launching straight into ‘Tongue Tied,’ complete with a brief ‘Twist and Shout’ tag woven into the ending.
The band also revealed they had just finished a new album and debuted a brand-new song for the crowd titled “Shush.”
