Danny Elfman brings genre-spanning set to Sick New World

Danny Elfman added a different dimension to Sick New World, delivering a set that blended film scores, rock material and fan-favourite themes at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds.

The composer and performer, who first gained recognition as frontman of Oingo Boingo, has in recent years returned to the stage with a live show that draws from across his decades-long career. His current performances combine selections from his solo work, including material from his album Big Mess, with music from film and television.

Elfman is widely known for his long-running collaboration with director Tim Burton, having scored films such as Batman, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, along with the theme for the television series Wednesday. He also composed the music and provided the singing voice for Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Beyond Burton’s films, Elfman has worked extensively with directors including Sam Raimi and Gus Van Sant, contributing to projects ranging from Spider-Man to Good Will Hunting. His credits also include the theme for The Simpsons, one of the most recognizable pieces of television music.

In addition to his screen work, Elfman has maintained a presence in the concert world, with multiple symphonic compositions performed internationally. His recent live shows, often billed as a journey through his career, have earned strong reception since debuting at Coachella in 2022.

Elfman’s appearance at Sick New World comes as he continues work on new material and prepares for additional festival performances in 2026.
