Guadalajara, Mexico’s Descartes to Kant performed on the Reverb Stage on the final day of the Louder Than Life Music Festival in Louisville, Kentucky on Sunday, September 29, 2024.
Photographer Daniel Rojas captured these images from their performance:
Descartes to Kant returned in 2023 with a new studio album, After Destruction, released on Sept. 29 in all formats.
This conceptual work explores the cycles of existential creation and destruction.
After Destruction portrays psychic discomfort in a compulsively hyper-communicative yet emotionally isolated society. With a retro-futuristic aesthetic, destructive guitars, synthesizers, and soulful melodies, the album lampoons contemporary emotional consumerism. The band has also introduced a new automaton character, The DAK, an innovative machine designed to repair emotional damage, which appears in both album interludes and live performances. Looking to restore your life after a catastrophe? Turning your pain into art has never been easier.
The album’s first single, its namesake, was released over the summer across all platforms, along with a video directed by Gamaliel de Santiago. The band announced that a video collection for the full album will be available on their YouTube channel, directed by Persia Campbell. The first video, “Raindrops of Poison,” drops with the album on Sept. 29, followed by “The Mess We’ve Made,” which will be released in early December, coinciding with the band’s European tour. They will play 15 shows in Belgium, Italy, Spain, France, Slovenia, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland, wrapping up the year with a performance at Mexico City’s Zócalo. The band will continue touring in 2024, with stops in Mexico, the U.S., Europe, and South America.
